Matthewson Trophy

Interclub Digital Projected Images
Judge:

  • An entry in this competition shall be made by a Club or Society only, and shall consist of six digital projected images.
  • Not more than two images in each entry may be made by any one member of that Club or Society.
  • The sets should be judged as individual exhibition works, with the club entry gaining the highest aggregate being the winner.
  • It is not meant to be a club set where a common theme or balance of work is required.

Individual portfolio

  • The competition is for individual members and shall consist of a portfolio of six photos.
  • The portfolio will consist of six prints in even years, and six projected images in odd years.
  • The total entry should demonstrate the skill and expertise of the photographer through a range of subject matter as in the following examples:  Portraiture, Landscape, Photojournalism, Monochrome, Macro, Abstract, Still life, Sports, Night Photography, Creative, Natural History.
  • There is a $10 fee to enter the Geoffrey C Wood.

Notes: 
  1. No duplication of subject matter should occur.
  2. Images entered in the “Open/Landscape/Natural History” sections, can not be entered in the Geoffrey C. Wood Trophy competition (i.e. no duplication of entries.)

Open/Landscape/Natural History

  • Open to individual members who may have a total of up to 6 entries in the combined sections.
  • Each entry may be in any combination of prints/projected images to make a combined total of six (6) or less.
For example an entry may be:
  • 6 prints open or 6 projected images open
  • 2 prints open, plus 2 projected images open, plus 2 natural history.

​The Open, Landscape, and Natural History competitions, are judged separately, and have separate trophies.

Novice Award

  • Entrant must never have previously entered a Seddon Shield competition.
  • Must not have previously won any major photographic competitions, or be the holder of any photographic distinctions
  • Must be identified as a Novice
  • Must have been a member of their Club for less than two years.
  • Each entry may be in any combination of prints/projected images to make a combined total of six (6) or less.

Webber Memorial Natural History

Examples of New Zealand natural history include:
  • Animals in the wild, birds, insects, animal tracks, nests, marine life, etc, but NOT domestic or mounted specimens.
  • Plant life - Flowers (not formal arrangements), trees, shrubs, ferns, fungi etc.
  • Photomicrography - In connection with biological and geological subjects.
  • General - Scenery with a specific aspect, geology, clouds meteorological interest etc.
  • Naturalised subjects - e.g. deer, black swan, monarch butterfly and wild briar (NOT cultivated roses).

​Note:
  1. Natural History Titles should include either the Scientific name or the common name of the subject(s).
