General Conditions of Entry

Eligibility
Entrants
  • The competitions are open to all members of camera clubs or societies in the Nelson, Marlborough, Motueka, Golden Bay, Buller and West Coast areas.
Images
  • Images previously accepted in these competitions may not be re-entered.
Disqualification
  • The host club has the right to disqualify any image that does not comply with the rules here stated.
Duplication
  • Images entered in the individual competitions (Novice / Open / Landscape / Natural History) and the Geoffrey C Wood Competition may be used by the club in the Matthewson Trophy, but images entered in the individual competitions cannot be duplicated in the Geoffrey C Wood Competition.
Processing
  • Entries may be trade processed but must have been exposed by the entrant.
Image content
  • Images must be the photographic work of the entrant both in origin and manipulation. Images generated solely by electronic means (e.g. fractals) are not eligible. Composite images must contain only original work by the entrant.  
  • Images containing material deemed to be offensive, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable may be removed from the competition at the joint discretion of the Competition Secretary and at least three other members of the host club's organising committee.
GC Wood Presentation
File names for entries in the Geoffrey C Wood Trophy 
​(2022 print only)
  • Filenames should begin with a code which will anonymously identify the author. This code will be the last 3 digits of the phone number you have used on the website entry form followed by number 1-6 to identify the order of your 6 images.
    • ​eg  For phone number 021-123-4567 for first image in GC Wood entry titled "Old Timer" you should title it thus: 5671[underscore]Old Timer
    • Ensure that the image name matches the downloaded file name including the code.
  • The photographer's name must not appear anywhere on the image or in the metadata.
  • On the back of each print, at the top centre, write "GCW" followed by the code and image title exactly as entered on the form eg GCW 5671_Old Timer.
  • There is a $10 fee to enter the Geoffrey C Wood.
Presentation - general
Prints
  • Prints must be greater in size than 250 x 180mm (or 9” x 7”) but must not be greater than 510 x 410mm (or 20” x 16”), or any shape that does not exceed these dimensions.
  • All prints must be mounted on either a stiff piece of card or a proprietary foam backing board. In addition, if you wish, you may add the protection of a cardboard mat around your print. (Mounting board and mat board can be obtained from picture framers.)
  • The mounting board (with mat if one is used) must not exceed 16”x 20” (40.5 x 51 cm) and be no more than 12mm thick.
  •  The size of the mounting board (incl. mat) must not be smaller than 6” x 8” (15×20 cm.)
  • The print itself should not be covered with anything – no glass or plastic.
  • The title and category entered shall be written on the back (top centre) of the print, as well as the last three digits of the exhibitor’s phone number (for personal identification) eg NHPr567_Piwakawaka for an image titled Piwakawaka entered as a Natural History print with a phone number of 021-123-4567.
  • The photographer's name must not appear anywhere on the print or mount.
  • Where a print is entered in the competition, entrants are to also supply a digital file of the image. This file will only be used for projection during the reading of the judge’s comments and results. Please prepare the digital file as per instructions below for digital projected images.
  • Framed and/or glass covered prints will not be accepted.
 
Digital Projected Images
  • Digital Projected Images shall be submitted as JPEG files only and saved in sRGB colour space.
  • Images are to be sized to a maximum of 1620 pixels wide x 1080 pixels high.
  • All uploaded image files must be a maximum of 2.6Mb.
  • There are naming protocols for each section and these are detailed on the entry form.  Ensure that each protocol is followed for each section. 
Method of entry
Prints
  • Prints should be packaged in reusable packaging and sent to:

  • Where a print is entered in the competition, entrants are to also supply a digital file of the image. This file shall be uploaded via the online entry form.
    A listing of the print titles and the author's name should be included with the prints so print entries can be verified.
 
Digital Projected Images
  • Digital Projected Images shall be entered via the online entry form only.
 
Online Entry Form
  • Online entry of digital projected images and digital copies of print entries is via the 2022 Seddon Shield website at:  www.seddonshield.weebly.com
Entry fee
  • ​There is a one-off $10 entry fee for entry in the individual competitions, there is no entry fee for club entries in the Matthewson Trophy.  
  • Entry fees by direct credit are preferred and may be paid to the following account:

    Use your Surname + initial as Reference 
  • Where payment is made by cheque, please make it payable to Nelson Camera Club and send it to the address listed in Method of Entry.
  •  ​Entries received without payment of an entry fee will be disqualified.​
Closing date
  • All entries and entry fees must be received no later than:  12th July, 2022.
  • The online entry form will close at 11:59pm; no late entries will be accepted.​
Damage or loss
  • The hosting club will take all reasonable care of entries, but cannot accept responsibility for entries damaged or lost.​
Return of entries
  • These will be returned via a member of your club who is attending the weekend, or may be returned via post or courier if the return postage or courier ticket is included with the entries.
Trophies
  • Winners of trophies will be entitled to hold the trophy for the ensuing year, returning it at their own cost to the next host club on request.
Permission
  • By entering this salon you agree that your images can be used for publicity purposes of the Seddon Shield.
